DIY Cupcake and Popcorn Stands

Directions for cupcake/individual ice cream cake stands:

I found two lilac, cardboard, cupcake stands for 2.50 each, during an after-Easter 50% off sale at Walmart. That was at least 3 years ago, and they've come in handy.

Click here for a similar one.

Then take bulletin board borders (I had some for doll house projects-you can get all kinds at The Dollar Tree), cut to fit, and tape them to the cardboard. Have fun cutting borders differently, using straight and also scrapbooking/craft scissors. I wanted lots of color, so also added a duct tape layer, which looked better on the opposite side of this picture.

Still, I wasn't too much of a perfectionist in any of this.  Perfection keeps good things from happening.  It gets in the way of movement.

Butterflies, the cups and plates, and Sara's specially wrapped cake and candle, were added.  Have fun with them.

Easy enough.

Now for the popcorn stand:

I took a basic, glass cake holder from the cupboard.  Added blue duct tape around the circle.  Then taped a red cup upside down to the glass in center, and then taped a paper plate to that.  done.
I cut around the remaining red cups, making them smaller, and really like how the red added lots of color to the table.

I put a few leftover tags from invitations, on the bottom-end of red knives from the dollar store plasticware set, and popped them in the popcorn.
