how to make a simple tabletop fountain

the fountain I made for our deck this summer...
About 10 years ago I bought a fountain at a yardsale for 5.00, and kept the pump.  Table fountain pumps can be bought at Lowe's, Home Depot, or here at Amazon.

This spring I found this terracotta pot was at Walmart for 6.00.  Any pot/planter or almost anything that hold water could be used.

On this one I used caulk, but suggest using this foam spray stuff to fill the drain hole in the bottom of the pot.  Spray a little, not a lot, of the foam spray stuff, then let it dry and cut off the extra.  easy.

I filled the pot with large rocks from my hoarded supplies (they're from the dollar tree), then placed it onto the base.  At Home Depot I found a small plastic, clear pipe thing, and cut off about 2 or 3 inches, placing it into the fountain pump where the water comes out.  It's not necessary, but helps direct the water.

Filled it with water, plugged in the pump, and that's it.

A few drops of this added to the water every now and again keeps it algae free, helping the motor run more effectively.

If you make one, I'd love to see what you come up with...it's pretty fun.

How are you making your today world beautiful?
